For engagement shoots, I usually recommend the couple bring a change of clothes and/or personal props to provide us with new looks and options. When I met up with Brittany and Shaunn for their shoot, they had several options - and Converse hi-tops - Shaunn had a few pairs of those…so cool. From the start, I knew they were vested in the process; as a photographer this is always such a great thing to see - you know the couple want to get the most out of the shoot. Also, these two really have a creative vision. When I suggested the mural shot, Shaunn planned in advance with the proper shoes and soles. And then there were other nice surprises that just magically appeared, like the fire engine, open dock and bat appearance. I feel like serendipities like this show up quite a bit when those involved are open to anything and everything, despite the triple digit heat, and walking involved which didn’t faze us. It all paid off in the end - there were lots of laughs and those BATS - as an Austinite, Brittany doesn’t recall ever being there at the right time to see them. But they did, for us, that evening - of course they did :)
